Forget the mainstream best sellers; our shelves are filled with a handpicked collection for every reader, young and old. Whether you’re in search of a peculiar read or a hidden treasure, our curated selection won't disappoint!

But there’s more to discover beyond our literary gems! Delight in our array of Victorian items and gifts, and take home a piece of history with our original 19th-century newspapers.

As you wander through our space, remember, things may not always be as they seem... πŸ‘» Spirits roam freely here, and Victorian England was known for its mysteries and perils.

🌈 Extend your journey through the looking glass by visiting Alice in the Village next door, where an explosion of color awaits! Complete your adventure through one of history’s most beloved classics.

Gas is still going up and up! I wish to pass on an idea..How about parking the car and letting someone else do the driving! There is a company called My Fun Bus. It has really great day trips you can do all summer long. Skip the gas pumps, skip the driving and still have fun! Trips include: Baseball games, NYC, shopping trips and more. Why worry about how much gas your going to spend and instead figure out what trip your going to do next!

Did You Know....

πŸŒŸ **Connecticut's Flag: A Symbol of Heritage and Unity** 🌟

The flag of Connecticut, adopted in 1897, is a beautiful embodiment of the state's rich history and esteemed values. Its design and elements convey a narrative that connects the past to the present, and here's a deeper dive into its fascinating features:

  • Design: At the heart of the flag lies a white baroque shield embellished with three grapevines. Each vine proudly bears three clusters of purple grapes, symbolizing prosperity and resilience. The elegance of the shield is further heightened with gold and silver embroidery.
  • Symbolism: The trio of grapevines holds dual significance. They are believed to represent either the three original coloniesβ€”Connecticut, New Haven, and Saybrookβ€”or the first towns establishedβ€”Hartford, Windsor, and Wethersfield.
  • Motto: Emboldened below the shield is the state's inspiring motto, "Qui Transtulit Sustinet" which translates to "He who transplanted sustains." This phrase, drawn from the 80th Psalm of the Bible, echoes Connecticut's enduring connection to its roots and heritage.
  • Adoption: Unveiled by Governor O. Vincent Coffin on May 29, 1895, and officially adopted on September 9, 1897, the flag's introduction was greatly influenced by the dedication of the Anna Warner Bailey Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
  • Background: The flag's royal blue field pays homage to the Union Army's blue uniforms during the Civil War, a nod to the historical significance and valor of the time.
  • Dimensions: Officially, the flag measures five feet, six inches in length and four feet, four inches in width, establishing its grandeur.

🎨 Embracing the visual brilliance of the Connecticut flag provides a lens into the past while celebrating the state's resilient identity and its ongoing legacy. Let us continue to honor and cherish the symbolism embedded within this emblem of state pride! 🎣

🌸 My journey with sola wood flowers began as a personal venture in 2018, while planning for my own wedding. From that moment of discovery, Wood & Word Blooms was bornβ€”a project fueled by my desire to unleash creativity and offer a distinctive alternative to traditional floral arrangements.

From the first moment I laid eyes on wood flowers, I knew they were exactly what I was looking for. This unique type of flower allowed me to craft beautiful centerpieces and bouquets by combining wood flowers with sentimental book page flowers for my own wedding. And so, the adventure of Wood & Word Blooms began!

🌿 My mission is to craft special, long-lasting florals that add an extraordinary touch to your special day. Whatever your vision might be, I am committed to bringing it to life with eco-friendly and enduring flowers that are made uniquely for you. Let me help transform your dreams into reality with creativity and sustainability at heart. 🌻
