With gas prices so high. I am going to wait a few weeks before starting more trips. I will be featuring the shoreline for Spring and Summer. I will also be featuring beaches across our state. Hopefully by then it will be better. For now, here is a great idea for perhaps a weekend..

**** CHERRY BLOSSOMS ARE NOT READY YET****

Taking a drive to view some Cherry Blossoms would be great. The flowers usually bloom in late March or early April, but the exact timing varies each year depending on the weather.

Here is a list of places that have some trees to view...

Wooster Square Park and Yale University in New Haven. Also make a stop and get yourself some Sallys Pizza!

Bushnell Park in Hartford. May I suggest a stop at Parkville Market for some great food. Then after make a stop at WEHA Marketplace.

Downtown Greenwich has some trees.

Mill River Park - Stamford

I AM SAVING THIS HERE SO IN A FEW WEEKS IT SHOULD BE READY TO GO!

Perhaps taking a ride to some waterfalls this time of year. The trees have no leaves so far and that will give you some great views before they do.. Perhaps taking a trip over to Kent Falls or maybe even to Chester CT where you can view 2 falls for the ride of one! Bushmill By the Waterfall is a restaurant at the waterfall. You can also grab some drinks at the bar, then the other one is in town right next to the Chester Museum at the Mill. Go around the back of the building to see it. Then head into Chester and grab a bite to eat! Chester is easy to get to just head down Route 9!

Did you Know..

The Governor's Foot Guard of Connecticut, consisting of two unique companies, is a remarkable military organization with a long-standing history in the United States!

πŸ”Ή Established in **Hartford in 1771**, the First Company holds the distinction of being the nation's oldest military group with an unbroken lineage. Meanwhile, the Second Company, founded in New Haven in 1774, brings its own rich legacy, famously led by Benedict Arnold, who captained them to join the patriot cause after the pivotal Battle of Lexington.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Originally tasked with escorting the governor between the state's dual capitals, the Foot Guard gained prominence by participating in every major American conflict, including serving in the Civil War as part of the 6th Connecticut Volunteers.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Today, the Foot Guard has embraced a ceremonial role, donning iconic scarlet coats and bearskin hats reminiscent of the British Coldstream Guards. However, beyond their ceremonial duties, they continue to serve an essential function as an active component of the Connecticut Military Department. They are poised to swiftly respond to state emergencies, offering critical support services like disaster relief and operating mobile field hospitals.

πŸ₯‡ Truly, the Governor's Foot Guard is a living piece of history, seamlessly blending tradition with modern responsibility. πŸŽ‰

🎨✨ From Hobby to Heartfelt Business – Melissa’s Inspiring Pottery Journey 🌟

2020: This was the year Melissa took her first steps into the world of pottery, warmly encouraged by her Aunt Tiffany. Under the guidance of renowned local artist Kimberly Ford, Melissa quickly fell in love with shaping clay. 🏺❀️

Community Connection: After joining Sawmill Pottery in Putnam, she immersed herself in a vibrant community that fueled her creativity and skill development. However, as duties as a public safety dispatcher grew, she momentarily hit pause on her studio classes. πŸŽ¨πŸ› οΈ

Supporting Her Passion: Understanding the depth of her love for pottery, her husband, Steven, built her a home studio where she could continue her artistic journey. In 2024, they took a pivotal step by purchasing their first kiln, kindling a thrilling new chapter in Melissa’s pottery adventure. πŸ”₯🏑

Milestones & Growth: The formation of Melissa's MuddWorks LLC in October 2024 marked an official commitment to her craft. Moving into 2025, Melissa and Steven’s shared passion led them to a Brick-and-Mortar business class by the Norwich Community Development Corporation, enhancing their business acumen. πŸ“šπŸš€

Shared Passion: With Steven’s increasing interest in ceramics and his decision to pursue classes himself, the couple’s mutual enthusiasm grows. Their joint endeavor in ceramics is not merely a pastime but a conduit to connect, serve, and expand the love of pottery within their community. πŸŒπŸ’—

Looking Ahead: Melissa and Steven continue to explore the artistic landscapes of pottery, weaving their story of creativity and connection with every piece they craft and every community interaction they foster. πŸŒŸπŸ™Œ
