Connecticut Unsolved Ancient Mysteries

Introducing our new section. The Book Nook. Here we feature small Connecticut book stores. I love a good book. One of my favorite things to do is pull up a chair to my front sun facing window and take some time to read. Here in this section will be your book tour of  Connecticut!

πŸ—ΊοΈ Legend has it that real-life buccaneer Captain William Kidd buried treasure on Charles Island, off the Milford shoreline. No one’s ever found it, but folks here love to tell the tale. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

Just like peanut butter and jelly and Jay and BeyoncΓ©, scallywag pirates and magical mermaids are a match made in legends. So, we named our little bookstore Mermaid Books, as a nod to Milford’s history and all the excitement we have in celebrating it. πŸ§œβ€β™€οΈπŸ“š

Located in downtown Milford, right off the green, Mermaid Books is women-owned and family-friendly. When we open, we’ll offer story times, author events, and workshops and classes for fishies of all ages, big and small. We’ll also collaborate with schools and nonprofit groups focused on literacy and learning. πŸŽ‰πŸ“

We’re looking forward to becoming your neighborhood spot for new books and bookish gifts, toys, bits and bobs. πŸ“–πŸŽ

Route 10 trader

Route 10 Trader can be found in Plainville on Route 10. This is a very eclectic and vintage shop. Here you can find old radios, CD's, funiture, DVD's, emphera, vintage dishes, some Disney collectibles, old rail road lights and more. Please call ahead to find out the hours as the owner has limited hours during this time of year.

With gas prices so high. I am going to wait a few weeks before starting more trips. I will be featuring the shoreline for Spring and Summer. I will also be featuring beaches across our state. Hopefully by then it will be better. For now, here is a great idea for perhaps a weekend..

Taking a drive to view some Cherry Blossoms would be great. The flowers usually bloom in late March or early April, but the exact timing varies each year depending on the weather.

Here is a list of places that have some trees to view...

Wooster Square Park and Yale University in New Haven. Also make a stop and get yourself some Sallys Pizza!

Bushnell Park in Hartford. May I suggest a stop at Parkville Market for some great food. Then after make a stop at WEHA Marketplace.

Downtown Greenwich has some trees.

Mill River Park - Stamford
