You know I was trying to figure out the drive for this issue, then I was thinking about the rising gas prices and basically all the rising prices and thought how can I help my readers save money while driving around. Well this issue will deal with savings as your going around the state to enjoy what we have to offer. Lets start with gas for the car. You can start saving money a few ways I will list here: AAA Membership. This not only helps you out when your car breaks down but their app also shows where the cheapest gas is by your location while using the app. Plus its discounts you get at some Hotels really makes this membership worth it. You can also get Free maps, triptiks - yes they still do that and discount tickets for Amusement Parks, museums and Movies! Gas Station Rewards programs. I have Cumberland Farms Smart Pay. You automatically get 10 cents off a gallon using the card. It is NOT another credit card. You link that card to your bank. So its like a debit card. PLUS you get free stuff like drinks, chips and food. You can't lose with this card. I also have other Gas Station cards for when I am on the road and there is no Cumberland Farms near by. If you join AAA you also can join the Shell Station discount program using your AAA card. Apps for gas like Gas Buddy and Upside. Upside give you money back - like actual money back to your account. If your spending money on gas may as well try to get some money back! Now for saving while your out and about. Library Card - I have mentioned this before. The card takes like 5 minutes to get, then after you can use the card to get discount or free museum passes! You just have to make the effort to go get the card. Then start using free passes to places like Mystic Aquarium & Museum! The card also gets you FREE apps like Kanopy and Libby. Let me ask you have you seen magazines at the checkout counter at the store? yes right. But did you know you can ready those for FREE using the Libby app? All you have to do it get your Library card, install the Libby app and then put in your card number and then BAM. You have access to magazines like People, US and Entreprenuer and more! Really Free, I read them all the time! Latest issues in the supermarket - no kidding. CT Season Pass this is a new app from CT Tourism. It has discount passes to ALOT of discounts like percentages off, buy one get one free and more! Just download the app and its like having coupons right at your fingertips! Wholesale Club memberships Places like Bj's, Costco and Sams have their own gas prices usually less than what you can find on the street. Maybe its time to get one of those memberships just for the gas. When we travel out of state we try to gas up at those places. Please try one of these money saving systems. Because come summer you don't want to be stuck in the house! |
