Winter Indoor Fun in Connecticut

Introducing our new section. The Book Nook. Here we feature small Connecticut book stores. I love a good book. One of my favorite things to do is pull up a chair to my front sun facing window and take some time to read. Here in this section will be your book tour of  Connecticut!

14,000 sq ft of antiques and over 90 vendors featuring eclectic items, books, vintage clothing, collectibles, furniture and more. This store is right beside the Genius Museum and The Dinosaur Place. Go take a trip down there, the area is really nice. Making a trip down there is worth it. After maybe you can go and stop at the casinos.

This trip takes us down Route 5 South. Starting at 291 South Windsor. Heading SOUTH on route 5 you can start your drive with a bagel sandwich at Between Rounds Bakery and Cafe. Grab a quick bite and keep heading south and you will see Home Outlet. If your thinking about doing a remodel you should make a point to stop in there and take a look around and see the prices are not bad. Continuing down Route 5 you will see downtown East Hartford and AAA Diner. If you did not eat yet make a stop at this East Hartford landmark. If you take a left on Route 44 on the right is a Spanish Restaurant called Tu Rincon. If your in the mood for some other type of food how about The Russell Authentic Caribbean Restaurant. Here you will find an eclectic menu lots of great food. If not at the beginning of this trip perhaps come back around. Not interested in that how about The Mama Juana Peruvian Restaurant? Boy East Hartford has some great dining options! Going down Route 5 keep an eye out for Pitkin St, take a right and take a drive by the Connecticut River, before you see it you will find Mickeys Oceanic Grill. My husband swears by the lobster rolls. Going down Pitkin St turn Left on East River Drive make a stop at Great River Park and get some photos of Hartford across the river. Once done, follow East River Drive straight back onto Route % South (right) going down on the right you will see Red Dog Coffee. If you like coffee stop and see their custom coffees. You know in the span of this short drive again, East Hartford does not disappoint with the food. Another great location is Augie & Rays Drive-In. Another Iconic spot! Heading straight we are now on Main St. There is a fork there stay to the right, the road changes to High St follow it and then take a right on Main St heading towards Glastonbury. Lots of places to eat here again. I also suggest stopping at  Dee's One Smart Cookie a Gluten, Dairy and Allergy free bakery. After you pass the shopping area be on the lookout on your left for Hebron Ave. This will take you to Route 2 North. There you can head back home OR Keep Exploring!

๐ŸŒŸ Discovering the Joys of Pottery ๐ŸŒŸ

In October 2019, a new journey began when my husband gifted me pottery classes for my birthday. Little did I know that this gift would ignite a passion that has grown ever since. ๐ŸŽจ

Starting with humble clay, I crafted items for our home, and soon enough, they became cherished gifts for family and friends. Watching the delight on their faces as they received a piece molded from my imagination was truly rewarding. ๐Ÿ’•

As I honed my skills, a dream started to take shape: to share my creations with the world through Etsy. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ This platform represents a chance to turn my passion into something more, intertwining creativity and community in every piece sold.

Thank you for being part of this journey, and I hope to bring a touch of handmade warmth to homes everywhere through my pottery. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new venture! ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŒฟ
