๐ The First Electric Locomotive Did you know that the advent of electric locomotives in the United States dates back to the 19th century? Time Machine Toy Shop |
A Journey Through Time in Hobby Retail ๐ Established back in 1993 by Steve Maynard in a humble storefront in East Hampton, CT, Time Machine has long been a cornerstone of the hobby community. Through the years, Time Machine has evolved and expanded, creating a lasting impact on enthusiasts from near and far. In 1999, we reached a pivotal moment, relocating the store to the illustrious 1st floor of the Bon Ami Factory. Here, the second floor was then occupied by New England Hobby Supply, a long-standing fixture that had been there since the mid-1970โs. Our history took another remarkable turn in 2003 when Time Machine purchased New England Hobby, merging their train and dollhouse business with our specialized offerings. Since the merger, Time Machine Hobby has thrived, keeping our shelves stocked with classic items our customers adore, while continuously adapting by adding exciting new favorites such as toys, puzzles, and games. This evolution ensures that there's always something fresh and fun waiting for you. One highlight you won't want to miss is our extraordinary claim to fame: the largest model train layout in New England. Spanning a stunning 5000 square feet, it features N, HO, and O scale trains, a faithful recreation of the legendary horseshoe curve ๐, and even a miniature model of the building itself! Whether you're a long

This trip we are heading first on I84 West to Route 6 East. We are going to explore the Litchfield area. Lets Go. Going on Route 6 East in Southbury here you will find some cute shops and places to eat. I suggest the Newbury Place Gift shop just take a left on Main St South then a left onto Oak Tree Rd, if you want to get some breakfast, then stop over at Leos Restaurant whos' tag line is "Food Fit for A King". Once you've filled up head back to Route 6/67. Soon 67 will break off but stay on Route 6, up the road you will find 2 Antique stores you might want to take a peak at - Antiquario and Pantry and Hearth Antiques. Once your done there keep heading up Route 6 and keep an eye out for Soulbury Cultural Gifts Store. Very unique shop you will not find anywhere else. Just up the street is Woodbury Brewing Company. (Remember don't drink and drive) Perhaps stop by there to get a bite or a quick drink. The is also Mix Prime Steak House Fish & Sushi if your in a mood. There are also some other places to eat in this area and a small shopping center to browse. Heading further on Route 6 you will find Farmhouse Antiques as well. If you want to really take a look at old world charm take a left on Hollow rd and stop at The Hurd House or The Glebe House Museum. If you did stop there go back to Route 6 East and you will see LaBonne's Market. Honestly I do love stopping at these small town market places. I hunt for things you cannot find but only at hese locations. I always hit the deli area first. After keep heading down Route 6 and watch for the intersection of Route 61 North. This is where we break off Route 6. Route 61 will bring you into Connecticuts town of Bethlehem. If your going this time of year you might see their Holiday displays out. If you happen to be a stamp collector I have previously mentioned about the Holiday post marks you can get on your Christmas cards. Moving on, passing through this area you will see the fairgrounds. Keep an eye out for wild turkeys or deers. Once you get past there you will be in Morris. You will see intersection of 61 and Route 109. Take a left on Route 109 and at this corner you will see Popey's Ice Cream Shop. Really good ice cream. I am a sucker for cotton candy. Once you pass that follow the road and you will see Bantam Lake. Such a great place to swim. There is a public beach on the far side. I highly recommend it for the summer. After you see the lake take a right onto Route 209 (Bantam Lake Rd). Head North - some great houses on the other side of the lake. Keep an eye out for West Shore Seafood, not sure what their menu for winter is, but stop if they are open! Heading up Route 209 at the intersection of Route 202 turn right. Your heading into the town of Litchfield. Before you head into town stop at Love Hearts Bakery and Cafe, get yourself a coffee boost because your going to want to walk around downtown Litchfield! Spend the rest of the day here. Its worth the visit. Once your done there, you can jump on Route 118 and head to Route 8 South back to I84. Hope you have fun on this one! Keep Exploring! |

Glass by Steve |
๐จ Meet Steve Saleski, Artisan Glassblower Extraordinaire! ๐๏ธ ๐ As a local artisan, I'm honored to present my passion for creating uniquely designed and meticulously handcrafted glass art. Every piece that comes from my studio, whether it's a vase, bowl, sculpture, ornament, or any other form of intricate glassware, beautifully echoes the _ancient art_ of glassblowing. This remarkable skill demands not just technical expertise but also boundless creativity and precision. ๐ฌ๏ธ My technique is built upon inflating molten glass into a bubble with the use of a blowpipe. By shaping the glass using both my breath and essential tools, I can create one-of-a-kind creations that are both stunning and singular. ๐ Each and every item, be it bowls or vases, is entirely handmade. These pieces make for unforgettable gifts because when you choose handcrafted art, you're not just giving a giftโyou're also sharing a piece of art that's as unique as the person who receives it. Join me in celebrating the timeless beauty of glass art, and let's continue to cherish the intricate marvels of glassblowing that reflect centuries of artisan mastery! โจ

๐ A Journey of Creativity and Connection ๐ At CT Styling Stitches, our story is one that beautifully intertwines family values and passion-driven craftsmanship. What began as a concerned gesture for my daughter during the rise of COVID-19โby making masksโhas now blossomed into a thriving small business. It was an unexpected yet rewarding journey of creating, selling, and donating masks, which enabled us to invest in embroidery sewing machines. Coming full circle, this venture brings back cherished memories. It was my mom who taught me the art of sewing. Fast-forward to today, and in a delightful twist of roles, I'm now teaching both my mom and daughter the delicate craft of embroidery. Itโs a legacy of creativity that continues to evolve, as each day presents new opportunities to expand and innovate the offerings at CT Styling Stitches. ๐ผ We invite you to explore our growing collection of embroidered goodsโa reflection of our familyโs dedication and love for the craft. Dive into the experience of creativity that binds generations together! ๐งต๐ |
