Take a Tour Through Western Connecticut?
Lets Start on Route 84 and head West all the way to Route 7. Its time to get off the highway. Taking Route 7 North then take exit Route 202 North but stay straight on Candlewood Lake Rd and you will find yourself by one of Connecticuts largest lakes. Candlewood Lake has some great views. Follow the road north and will will see Mangia Mangia Restaurant in case your hungry. Keep following Candlewood Lake Rd S from there and it will lead to Route 202 North there is a cute shop called Mother Earth Gallery. It is a crystal store. Are you ready for a quick snack or drink, try The Housatonic River Brewing Co. They offer not only beer but Wine and Bourbons. Please don't drink and drive! If beer is not your thing there is a Chinese Restaurant up the road instead. Remember just go with the flow. Eat where you want. Your on Route 202 you will see a breakoff soon of Route 7 follow that. Lets go see some Alpacas! At Bella Alpacas Farm, you might be able to see the alpacas and take a tour. make sure you pre-book your tour! Back on the road Route 7 North you will see Bulls Bridge Historic Covered Bridge. Please stop and get pics the views of the river and this bridge in the fall colors are amazing. Walk up the trail if you have time. There are waterfalls and another huge waterfall up river, follow the trail. This is on foot! This is not Kent Falls that is further up the road. Following back up Route 7 North into Kent CT, this is a cute little town I hope you stop and explore it for yourself. Following Route 7 North you will find Kent Falls State Park. Now this is a HIKE! you can stay at the bottom of the falls or hike up the stairs that go all the way up. Continue up Route 7 to Cornwall Bridge. Drive over the bridge! Once you've done that follow Route 7 all the way up north into Winsted and Route 44 East. There are 2 ways you can go. Follow Route 44 East into Hartford for a scenic ride and more exploring. OR go down Route 8 South back to I 84. |
