Did you know Connecticut has its own Route 66?

There are some great spots along the way for this road trip.

Start off at the eastern end of Route 691 in Meriden and follow Route 66 east. It will take you through downtown Middletown. Downtown is a great place to shop and pick up a snack. Go over to the riverfront and get some great pics.

Then follow Route 66 east over the Arrigoni Bridge. Follow 66 through to Arrigoni Winery & Cider Co. There treat yourself to some great wine and a gift shop. Take some great photos there too. Sit outside and take in the views of the winery. If your lucky you might be there for a show as well. Remember don't drink and drive. Back on the road, if your not into wine and feeling like a bite I highly suggest Pizzaria Da Vinci. Their pizza is just as good as New Haven pizzarias. Thin crust! Don't forget to grab a bottle of Connecticut's own Foxon Soda to have with it!

After your bite keep going to pick up some desert at Island Vibes Creamery. I suggest the blueberry ice cream if its in season. Continue on Route 66 and you will find Carter Hill, depending on the day you might find the farm open to take photos of the antiques. If you want a place to eat by the lake visit the Lakeside Bar & Grill. This is a great place with views of Pocotopaug Lake. (say that 5 times fast!) Onward you can either stop your trip at Route 2 intersection. Visit The Shops at Marlborough Farm for some antiquing. OR continue onward and finish to the end in Willimantic where 66 meets Route 6. Willimantic has some great little stores and don't forget its best road side attraction The Frog Bridge! why not get out and get some Pics! Enjoy the ride!!
